2 Day Introduction to Sign Writing Course with Fred Worthington
£160 per person for both days
This 2 day course with Fred Worthington, is an exciting new addition to our Workshop Program.
Discover the art of traditional sign writing in this fun and creative course held over two days.
Fred, our experienced Canal Art Tutor will teach you many of the sign writing techniques necessary for this art.
You will learn the basics of lettering, layout, brush control techniques and design, while creating your own hand painted one or two word sign to take home.
During the first day Fred will teach you how to start writing the alphabet using a ‘mahl’ stick, and practice writing letters using two fonts of Times Roman plus serifs, and Gil Sans.
On day 2 you will have a short recap from the previous day and start to plot your own simple sign. Fred will also teach you how to scale up size, and send you home with a set of alphabet letters so you can continue to practice your newly acquired skill at home.
By the end of the two days, you will have created your very own personalised 30″ X 12″ simple sign.
A wonderful opportunity to learn a timeless craft, meet like minded people, and enjoy a creative 2 days in a friendly and relaxed environment.
Tea and coffee is provided throughout the course but you will need to bring your own lunch.
